Imagine
you are a young woman living in a country that has suffered
atrocities similar to Afghanistan’s. Your country’s
leadership is trying to shape its future by writing a new
constitution. If you had the opportunity to speak out
because you believe it is heading down the wrong path — even
though you know there are those who would threaten to
silence you — would you still stand up for your beliefs?
Have
you seen any of Eve Ensler’s plays, such as the “Vagina
Monologues” or her newest, “The Good Body”? How would you
describe them to someone who has not seen her plays? Would
you recommend them?
Where
do you get the majority of your news and information
—television, Internet, radio, newspaper, friends and
colleagues, or other?
Are
you involved in any peace-building efforts now? Are they
local, national, or global efforts? If you had the
opportunity to tell people 20 years from now why you got
involved in such an effort, what would you say?
If you could do one thing today to help further peace, what
would it be?
