How long have you been financially self-supporting? Knowing what you do at this point in your life’s journey, would you have made any different financial decisions with your earlier income?

What is your motivation for sharing? After reading this issue of Café, do you think you might manage your gifts (financial and otherwise) differently? Have you considered what gifts you may have that you are not making full use of?

Have you or your friends ever been out of work when you needed to have a paying job? How did that affect your perspective on wants and needs? How might that perspective change if you were out of work for an extended period of time? If you have been out of work, what one thing would you like to share with someone who has not gone through that experience? What would you want them to understand or see through your eyes? (If you are so inclined, send these thoughts to the Tip Jar.)

All our gifts are from God. Thinking back to the first issue of Café (Bittersweet Temptation: The Story of Chocolate, August 2003), how does acting responsibly with our financial gifts impact what are we called to do with other resources? How do we make decisions that positively impact ourselves, our communities, our sisters and brothers around the world, and all of God’s creation? What is one positive change you can make in your gift management today?

Looking ahead
The next issue of Café will give you a closer look at the hands and lands that provide our daily bread. Do you know where your food comes from? Look for the Environment Issue of Café in your email box around mid-March. You won’t want to miss it!
