Does a certain meal remind you of someone special? Tell us about it.

Beef roast, mashed potatoes, and gravy remind me of my grandma. It is still a favorite Sunday meal in our family, long after grandma has passed on. My aunts make great taco salad and candy bar salad (cool whip, Baby Ruth candy bars, bananas). Always favorites at our family get togethers.

I connect lots of people with foods, especially ones they are/were known for preparing. For my mother's cousin Amy I always think of fried okra. I think of sour cream raisin pie and my husband's grandmother. Potato filling and Mabel go together. Cranberry orange relish reminds me of a friend's aunt. Every time I go to my recipe box and pull out a recipe from one of these women, lots of memories accompany my cooking or baking.
