Use the questions and ideas below to guide your reflection and conversation on this month's topic.

"Faith reflections" discussion questions by Erik Christensen

1. What stories of current events in the world, the nation, your city or neighborhood evoke your anger? When you think about these situations, do you feel more hopeful or more hopeless?

2. Think of a situation, global or local, that makes you feel hopeless. Can you think of anyone working on that issue who is acting as though there is hope for healing, change, or another positive outcome? Has that person written or spoken about where he or she finds the courage to continue working on that cause?

3. Reflecting on your own life, can you recall a time when you responded to a person or a situation in ways that required courage on your part? How did you find the courage to speak or to act? What was the source of your courage?

4. Consider again the current events you named in question #1. How actively are you engaged in responding to those events—individually or with others? What sources of courage are available to you right now that could strengthen your response to this issue? How is God equipping you to be a sign of hope in the face of suffering?
