Have you returned from an extended period of time away from home, whether it was service abroad or college? What did you learn from that experience?
Thanks for the article about "never going back" and Expecting to Change!! Good News as we grow and and bring all of our cultural experiences to our current station in life. Thanks!

I think it is hard to involve this group because they seem to be so busy w/ their careers and children. Unfortunately our church commitments take a back seat sometimes. I really enjoy this website and I like the Bible study discussions. Good luck in reaching out to the young women in your area!
Posted by: Nicole IA) Posted: 10/23/2009 11:18:23 AM The article from Andrea and the study from Susan are my stories too. My parents were missionaries and it wasn't until this past decade that I have lived in one city longer than 6 years and I'm 57 years old. I have wonderful memories of my Malagasy childhood, my Midwest high school and college years, my Middle East Peace Corps years, and my Virginia and Oregon young and middle adult years. Now I'm back in the Midwest and when I am asked "Where are you from?", the answer is varied depending on how long someone wants to listen. Jesus promises us He will never leave us, no matter what, so "Where I am from" is not as important as "Whose am I" or even "who is with me" on my journey. My life's journey is far from finished. Who knows where else I will go to reside for awhile? I just know I am not alone in that journey.
Posted by: Carol B R Posted: 10/8/2009 11:14:10 AM I am coordinator of our women. We are a rural congregation. We haven't had any success in involving young women. They are involved as Sunday School teachers and a few serve on the council but they have no support group at church. Hopefully Cafe can help us.
