Do you have a creative outlet? Has art helped to renew you?
A note for Julie. I don't know much about art therapy, but Wikipedia has a nice article about it that includes information about the education of an art therapist. The link is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_therapy.

Café is one way that you can engage women in their 20s and 30s. Some pastors and groups meet at actual cafes (or some place that is convenient and open after work hours with Wifi) to discuss the current issue.
To start a group, I suggest you just extend an invitation! Also, you can learn about what issues are important to them. (Check out Cafés June 2007 issue "E-vites, invites and other ways to welcome".) You also can encourage women to subscribe to Cafe (it's totally free) and new issues go directly to their inboxes.
The "Back issues" tab at the top of this page can direct you to previous topics.
The monthly podcast is another way to get Café articles. You can get to the podcast by following the "listen to Café" button on the top navigation. The podcast is also available on iTunes.
In addition to Café, Women of the ELCA offers a resource, Sacred Spaces (See the March 2009 issue of Cafe) that can be done with a group. You can download Sacred Spaces here: http://www.elca.org/Growing-In-Faith/Ministry/Women-of-the-ELCA.aspx.
Check out the Women of the ELCA web site for ideas about programs, retreats and other resources.
I hope you will let me know how it goes and I encourage you to email café@elca.org if you have more questions.
Blessings, Elizabeth McBride

(First life was an English teacher in middle and high school.) We do lots of social justice ministry in our community, but like most traditional denominations, are missing our 20 and 30 somethings. Any ideas for reaching out? What kinds of faith/spiritual life in community are those in that age category looking for?
Posted by: Laurie Veenendaal Posted: 4/24/2009 1:41:47 PM Congregation: Lakeview Lutheran Church I am wondering if someone can stir me in the right direction as to what education I would need to be qualified to do "Art Therapy" For children sufering trauma from abuse and neglect?
Posted by: Julie McCue (fort dodge, IA) Posted: 4/20/2009 11:19:31 PM Congregation: none I love to think of a creative God-- a God found in art, in our deepest expressions. Great tie-in to resurrection.
