Use the questions and ideas below to guide your reflection and conversation on this month's topic.

"Faith reflections" discussion questions by Amy C. Thoren

1. When you're with friends or co-workers, how often does the topic
of religious faith come up? Do you bring it up? Do others?

2. Reflect on times you've been public with your identity as a person
of faith. Was the setting hostile or welcoming? What was your
experience? How were you challenged to grow?

3. Read Esther and reflect on the absence of God in the book. Would
you say the book is "religious" or "non-religious?" How would you
characterize Esther? Could you say that God is active in the story
in spite of never being named? If so, how?

4. Read I Corinthians 1-2. What speaks to you in these chapters?
What's difficult? Do these chapters encourage you or hinder you in
sharing your faith?

5. Have you ever hid your faith for a reason or with a purpose? If
so, what was the reason (whether positive or negative in your mind)?

6. What are the perceptions non-religious people have of religious
people? Conversely, what are the perceptions religious people have
of non-religious people? Have you ever seen those perceptions
challenged?
