Do you feel that HIV/AIDS affects you? Why or why not? Does your congregation get involved in ways to support those affected by HIV/AIDS? Can you give some examples?

Ouch! Aids in Africa is a big deal for everyone because of globalization and the interdependence we have with other countries in the world. There are so many topics that are taboo for us to discuss with our youth and sex and sexuality is one of them. I think education is a tool that needs to be used much more often. I mean sure we can buy t-shirts and products that can help fight Aids, but that really doesn't make one stop and look at how our decisions and actions may be exacerbating the problem.

Hi, I have a problem with us Americans not minding our own business. What are you all doing in Africa worrying about HIV?AIDS!While here in this country out of wedlock pregnancy is still something to hide and keep a secret. I tell you why. I know of a young girl who sits in prison because she couldn't tell anyone that she was pregnant. Both she and her impregnator did not trust anyone in their familys and friends to share that. For nine month both keeped her stomach flat. She didnt eat right etc. She had her baby alone in her room. She said it looked not right dahhhh and they said she killed it.She is in prison. He is right now going to college. He that boy boy had that much influence over her the same thing the male has in Africa I understand. HE is in charge. When do we learn to empower our girls to stand up for themselves?????????
